down to the nitty gritty..

..or not so much. this isn't the per say.. assigned work for Night but i just wanted to share it nonetheless.. it's all i have time for tonight (studying chem, sorry)

so, in the prologue of my new and improved translation of Elie Wiesels Night, Elie shares the process he went through to get the book published. no one wanted to buy into a book that was so depressing, so Elie had to lighten it up a little. i wish he hadn't. in the prologue, he shares how the narrative opened in the original, unedited, Yiddish version of the novel:

'In the beginning there was faith-which is childish;
trust-which is vain; and illusion-which is dangerous.'

i just really like that for some reason. i thought i'd share it. spread the joy of heartbreaking holocaust anecdotes, right?

i'll get to the real assignment later this week, i promise. :D
